Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are made from a tooth-colored resin material. It’s the same material used in dental bonding. They’re less expensive than porcelain, can often be applied in a single visit, and require less enamel removal. They typically last 5 to 7 years before needing replacement or repair.

Composite veneers are a good choice for patients who want a more affordable option or who have minor cosmetic concerns. However, they’re not as stain-resistant as porcelain and may need more frequent maintenance.

What Happens During the Veneer Procedure?

Step 1: Consultation and Digital Imaging. Your journey begins with a thorough examination using our iTero digital scanner and digital X-rays. Dr. Parry will assess your teeth, discuss what you’d like to change, and determine whether veneers are the right treatment for your goals. This is your chance to ask questions and understand exactly what to expect.

Step 2: Tooth Preparation. If you’re getting porcelain veneers, a thin layer of enamel (about half a millimeter—roughly the thickness of a fingernail) is removed from the front of each tooth to make room for the veneer. This step is done with local anesthesia to keep you comfortable. For composite veneers, less enamel removal is typically needed.

Step 3: Impressions and Custom Fabrication. Your dentist takes precise digital impressions and sends them to a dental lab where your custom veneers are crafted. Temporary veneers may be placed to protect your teeth while you wait. For composite veneers, your dentist may sculpt and bond them in the same visit.

Step 4: Bonding and Final Fitting. Once your custom porcelain veneers are ready, Dr. Parry tests the fit, shape, and color. After any final adjustments, the veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth using a special dental cement. You’ll leave with a brand-new smile.

The entire process typically takes two to three appointments spread over a few weeks for porcelain veneers, or as little as one visit for composite veneers.

How Much Do Veneers Cost—And Are They Worth It?

According to CareCredit, individual veneers can range from $500 to $2,895, with an average for a single veneer of $1,765. It’s a wide range, but the cost depends on several factors:

• The type of veneer (porcelain costs more than composite)
• The number of teeth being treated
• The condition of your teeth and the complexity of your specific case
• Your dentist’s experience and location

Composite veneers fall in the same price ranges, but are often a bit less expensive than porcelain, with composites that can be sculpted in office typically having the lowest cost.
